La obra consiste del diálogo entre dos piezas: por un lado, un video que muestra un scroll de pantalla sobre una serie de noticias recientes de la prensa internacional que usan el término desembarco para referirse a la instalación de empresas extranjeras en Latinoamérica, solapado a una filmación del océano Atlántico desde a bordo en altamar. Por otro lado, acompañando al video, un dibujo en gran formato que muestra al personaje mitológico de Diana -diosa de la caza y las tierras salvajes- sosteniendo las amarras de un navío. Dicha ilustración fue extraída de un histórico grabado de Giovanni Stradano del siglo XVI donde se representa de manera alegórica el desembarco de Cristóbal Colón en el Nuevo Mundo. El navío que este personaje sostenía es ahora sustituido por el vídeo.

The work consists of a dialogue between two pieces: on the one hand, a video that shows a scrolling screen over a series of recent news from the international press that uses the Spanish term “desembarco” (landing, disembarkment) to refer to the installation of foreign companies in Latin America, overlapped to a filming of the Atlantic Ocean from on board on the high seas. On the other hand, together with the video, a large format drawing shows the mythological character of Diana -goddess of the hunt and the wild lands- holding the moorings of a ship. The illustration was extracted from a historical engraving by Giovanni Stradano from the 16th century where the landing of Christopher Columbus in the New World is allegorically represented. The ship this character was holding is now replaced by the video.
